ST. AGNES - MY PARISH APP!

THE NEW PARISH APP IS HERE!

St. Agnes is launching our own app for iPhone and Android smart phones. This will allow us to better communicate with you throughout the week and keep you updated with relevant parish news or updates. The app is very well designed and very intuitive. It will be a great resource for parishioners by providing daily Mass readings, Catholic news and prayers, convenient prayer and Confession reminders, our bulletins and more. We hope for our new app to be a tool for fostering stronger parish life at St. Agnes and better engaging the New Evangelization. The links are on our home page and will take you to the marketplace appstore where they can download the myParish app.  Your feedback as we move forward with this new exciting tool is greatly appreciated.  Please let us know your thoughts!

FATHER'S DAY MESSAGE

2017 TAX CUT AND JOB ACT INFORMATION

Dear St. Agnes Academy and Parish Families,

We are pleased to bring your attention to changes to the federal tax code that will make it easier for Catholic school families to meet annual tuition obligations.  Per the 2017 Tax Cut and Job Act, effective January 2018, families can withdraw up to $10,000/year/student from that student’s 529 plan to pay for K-12 tuition.  The primary benefit of a 529 plan is that earnings in the plan are tax-free if used to pay qualified education expenses.  Attached for your review is a primer from the US Catholic Conference of Bishops on the changes to 529 plans occasioned by the recent legislation.

The change to the federal tax code follows upon changes to the MA tax code.  Effective January 1, 2017 through the 2021 tax year, contributions to Massachusetts 529 plans of up to $1,000 per year by an individual, and up to $2,000 per year by a married couple filing jointly, are deductible in computing Massachusetts taxable income.  Please be aware, in order for the contribution to be tax deductible on your Massachusetts state income tax return, the contribution must be made to a Massachusetts state sponsored plan.

Please note that St. Agnes Academy or Parish does not provide tax advice and we recognize that each family’s financial circumstance is unique.  We recommend that you consult your financial advisor or tax consultant to select the best options for your family.

Thank you,

Fr. Chris

PARISH BOARDS AND COUNCILS

Saint Agnes Catholic Community Governance

LINK TO BOARD/COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP

The healthy success of any community relies on the active participation and wise leadership of its members.  From its earliest days as a parish, St. Agnes CC has had wise, pragmatic and dedicated parishioners who stepped forward- sometimes asked, sometimes moved to volunteer, sometimes summoned- to work with the pastor and the diocese to create and maintain a parish that provided its members with liturgy, pastoral care, education and opportunities for ministry.  The Finance Council, Pastoral Council, Faith Formation Board and Academy Board provide governance at St. Agnes.
